Coal Tar is a thick, black, viscid liquid formed during the destructive distillation of coal.
It is a by-product generated while processing coking coal into low ash metallurgical coke in a recovery-type coke oven plant, which accounts for around 3.5-4% of coke produced. It is then dehydrated and subjected to fractional distillation to form Coal Tar pitch, oils & Naphthalene.
Tata Steel’s IBMD has established itself as one of the leading coal tar suppliers in India.
The following products are generated from Tata Steel Coal Tar:
Each of the above products cater to diverse industry segments, like for Aluminium Smelters, Graphite Electrodes, tyre industries, wood preservative oils, construction and infrastructure etc.
